  • you must pass the DVSA theory test before you can book your practical driving test.
  • All learner drivers need to pass the DVSA practical driving test before they can drive unassisted on the UK roads.
  • The practical  driving test is designed to see if you can:
  • Drive safely in different road and traffic conditions.Know the highway code a show this through your driving ability.
  • There is no minimum or maximum numbers of  hours driving you must do and there is no pass or fail quotas.
  • You can reschedule a practical test and won’t be charged for nit as long as you give 3 working days notice.Sundays and bank holidays don’t count as working days.

You must  take a Practical Driving Test

 

If you are learner on a provisional driving licence and want  to obtain a full UK licence.Those people with a non-GB licence, which is not approved for use in the UK.

How to be prepared for your Practical test

Driving lessons with an approved DVSA instructor is highly recommended if you want to prepare properly for your practical driving test. practicing outside of driving lessons in your own car( private Practice) can also help and build your confidence. Your driving instructor will advise you to apply for the test if they feel that you are ready.

After passing DSA theory test you can apply for your practical driving Test in a centre of your own choice. Our local test centre is in Slough but we also use other test centre. Please see the full list of frequently used test centres by us on page under “SERVICES”.

 

On Practical Test

  • First you will need to do an eyesight check. You must be able to read a vehicle’s number plate from a distance of 20 meters. For new style – style number plates ( plates that start with 2 letters follows by 2 numbers – eg.  RE 54……) , and 20.5 meters for old – style number plates
  • You can write down what you see if you can’t speak English or have difficulty in reading.
  • You will be asked 2 vehicle safety questions. These are known as “Show Me & Tell me ” questions.You will be asked by the examiner to show one question and tell them one question. All of the question that you can be asked can be found on on our (this) website on the “Show me & Tell Me Question & answers”. you will find a complete set of those Questions and Answers. Your driving instructor will train   you how to show the examiners all “Show Me” questions.
  • The driving part of your test will last about 40 to 45 minutes.
  • The examiner  want to see that your driving is safe.
  • You will be directed by the examiner and expected to perform normal stops on the road , a hill start and an angled start.
  • You will be asked to do a reversing exercise. Performing either a;
  • Parking in & Reversing out of a car park bay
  • A Parallel Parking
  • A right reverse on the road while parked on the right hand side of the road
  • A reverse Bay Parking
  • You might be asked do a Controlled Stop ( Emergency Stop ).
  • There is a section of  driving test  called ” Independent Driving “.  where you will be asked to either follow signs of a series of directions. examiner may show you a diagram of the route to follow , this section will last about 10 minutes.
  • Examiner might use a Satnav and ask you to follow the route  directions given by Satnav.
  • Don’t worry if you take a wrong turning on this part of the test. you are being assessed for how you drive independently , not your sense of directions.The examiner will help you find your way again if you go off course.
  • Try not to let a mistake affect your driving. Just carry on and do your best. You may still have passed.
  • The examiner has the right to stop and terminate your test , if they feel your driving is a danger to other road users.
  • You may take your instructor or another person with you on your test and your examiner will ask you before you leave the waiting room if you would like to do this.
  • On occasionally an examiner may have a supervisor with them.They are there to monitor the examiner’s performance, not yours. You could loose your fee and your test can be canceled if you don’t let the examiner’s supervisor come with you.

  • You will pass your driving test if you make 15 or fewer driving ( minor ) faults without getting a serious or dangerous fault.
  • You may call your driving instructor over at the end of the test to listen to the examiner’s debrief.
  • the three faults you can get:
  • A dangerous fault , this is a fault that involves danger to you or another road user.
  • A serious fault , this is a fault that can potentially be dangerous.
  • A driving fault , this is not a potentially dangerous fault , but if you keep on making the same fault then it could lead to a serious fault. 

If you Pass the test

 

The examiner will give you a pass certificate and a copy of your driving result.

 

If you Don’t Pass

 

You have to wait 10 working days before you can take your next driving test. You can book it straight away. You just can not take it before 10 working days have passed.  10 working days will give you just enough time to prepare for your next test.
